Overview

Ipas works globally so that women and girls have improved sexual and reproductive health and rights through enhanced access to and use of safe abortion and contraceptive care. We believe in a world where every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health.

 

The Program Advisor facilitates the Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) program at the district level or listed sites by ensuring regular CAC trainings and post-training service delivery by trained providers. This position acts as a liaison with health officials and offers program and clinical support to providers to help run the CAC program smoothly. The Program Advisor organizes regular CAC training programs to improve the accessibility, availability, and affordability of safe abortion services at government and private health facilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with government officials, agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of program activities and keeps the state/country office informed of any developments with these partners
• Maintains a database of trained doctors, providers, and training centers, and follows up with these partners to track their support rendered and performance
• Oversees the provision of required program and clinical mentoring support to trained providers and ensures the completion of related forms and documentation
• Coordinates with training centres and providers to ensure all program materials are received on time
• Develops needs-based community awareness programs, and visits facilities to provide them with program and administrative support
• Ensures the timely communication of CAC training orders from district officials and liaises with master trainers about their availability to conduct training sessions

• Collaborates with Programs Advisors in reference program activities, problem solving, and workplans
• Works with the Finance unit in reference to budgets, financial reports, project expenditures, claims, and other financial issues
• Works with Health Systems Advisors in reference to updates on sites and providers
• Reports to Programs Managers and Directors in reference to document requests, workshop planning and logistics, and program implementation
• Manages relationships with government and district health officials, CAC providers, clinical mentors, trainers, and training coordinators in reference to CAC training and services, as well as other medical programs
• Manages relationships with external entities including consultants and representatives of partner reproductive health organizations

Requirements

Minimum

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3-4 years’ experience

 

Preferred

• Working knowledge of computer software, Microsoft Office
• Experience in government interface
• Skilled in strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation
• Working knowledge of women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights
• 2 or more years of program implementation experience
• Experience in health sector
