  • Overview

    Ipas works globally so that women and girls have improved sexual and reproductive health and rights through enhanced access to and use of safe abortion and contraceptive care.     Responsibilities

    • Analyze accounting and financial information and preparing attendant financial reports
    • Examine accounting records and financial statements for accuracy, identifying potential issues and providing analysis and summaries of financial data to management.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to Country Finance Managers and Country Directors to ensure operational compliance
    • Provide accounting and Agresso/Vega (enterprise resource management software) training to in-country accounting staff
    • Develop monitoring tools to review accounting and financial transactions in system, track progress on corrective action plans from audits he performs
    • Assist Controller with development, monitoring and adjustment of budgets and perform variance analysis of donor budget line items and budget totals
    • Examine internal controls during visits to country offices, prepare compliance reports and assist in development of new internal control guidelines
    • Provide guidance based on monthly financial reporting to Country offices and process into monthly ledger for NC record keeping
    • Provide support for in-country financial staff in preparation for audits, coordinate audit activities and assist in developing corrective plans of action
    • Facilitate fund transfers to Country offices
    • 40% travel to Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Bolivia and Mexico to visit Ipas Country offices

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • At least 8 years of experience in the following:
    IT accounting skills for generally accepted accounting principles in African nations where Ipas has offices using Serenic Navigator
    Agresso (Modules: Financials & Planners);
    Programming languages: Java, C++;
    Accounting packages: Tally, AAA, QuickBooks, Accpac;
    Spreadsheet: MS Excel including pivot tables & macros;
    Database systems: Access, SQL
