Ipas works globally so that women and girls have improved sexual and reproductive health and rights through enhanced access to and use of safe abortion and contraceptive care. The Program Associate (PA) is a temporary position through June 2018, with the potential for longer-term employment after that period. The PA works with the Africa Program Support Team to provide operational assistance, with substantial support to the Francophone regional program. S/he liaises with the US office and country programs, subcontractors, and consultants to support timely and high-quality work conducted for programs under implementation. S/he adds value by implementing administrative systems which adhere to Ipas and donor protocols. Additionally, s/he must be able to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders, as well as effectively support the coordination of program implementation, proposal and report development, and regional budget planning and management. This position will be based in the Chapel Hill, NC at Ipas’s main office.


• Manage calendars, agendas, logistics, and meeting notes for meetings
• Support staff to prepare visa applications, requests for travel advances, and Travel Expense Reports
• Develop and track PST regional and travel budgets
• Conduct financial month-end analyses for the regional budget
• Process invoices, submit payments and send payment confirmation to consultants and service vendors
• Draft and finalize contracts, agreements and amendments and management payment processes
• Perform initial invoice review for management review and approval
• Perform discrete tasks on projects and/or proposal development efforts under the supervision of other staff
• Support staff to complete project and program management tasks as assigned
• Maintain project files, upload documentation, and organize SharePoint sites
• Collaborates with Unit Director, Deputy Director, Senior Program Managers and Program Managers in reference to unit meetings, shared tasks, and logistics
• Supports Program Managers in reference to budget management, workshop planning and logistics, program implementation, and administrative issues
• Manages relationships with external entities including service providers, travel agents, and consultants


• High school diploma with 2 years of related experience
• Proven excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong computer skills, especially with Excel using advanced functions
• Experience with managing budgets, event planning, and logistics organizing
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure
• Excellent soft skills, including include strong interpersonal and communication skills, a problem-solving attitude, and being a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player
• Positive, energetic attitude

• Prior experience working, studying, or traveling in developing countries
• Working knowledge of women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights
