    The Individual and Major Gifts (IMG) Advisor contributes toward Ipas’s efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors in support of Ipas’s mission and the priorities of the strategic plan. The IMG Advisor is responsible for creating the strategy and implementing Ipas’s bi-weekly donor e-newsletter; scheduling and implementing segmented hard copy mailings; and developing and/or reduxing proposals and reports to family foundations. The IMG Advisor serves as the primary researcher to identify and initially qualify major donor prospects. S/he negotiates and manages vendor contracts, oversees the Individual Donor/Major Gifts budget, and maintains donor data and gift information integrity. S/he supports the Major Gifts Officer in all aspects of obtaining major gifts from individuals, including data base maintenance, planning logistics for meetings, donor events, travel, and related tasks


    Gift Officer Support
    • Assists Individual and Major Gifts Officer (IMGO) in event planning, coordination and follow-up tasks
    • Assists in travel planning and reporting for IMGMO
    • In collaboration with IMGO, coordinates and executes spring and fall hard copy mailings, draft letters
    • Coordinates and runs technical assistance for the Board’s Development Task Force
    • Stays current in best practices in individual and major gift fundraising and marketing


    • Maintains constituent data accurately, acts as backstop to IMGO with database task management
    • Collaborates with database lead to build reports on donors, gifts, marketing lists, bulk activities, and for tracking Ipas’s strategic plan metrics
    • Responsible for gift entry and acknowledgement for all individual and major donations


    • Oversees planning and tracking of the IMG budget, and ongoing budget during the fiscal year

    • Manages process for bulk email communications sent to donors including:

    • Drafts and sends bi-weekly external email newsletters 
    • Sends and manages database subscriptions for all individual donor email efforts 

    • Writes or modifies soft proposals and reports for family foundations
    • Edits and proofreads documents prepared by IMGM


    General Program Support
    • Ensures accurate presence on external rating websites (ex: Charity Navigator and Guidestar)
    • Compiles and submits all information needed to maintain state registrations and Combined Federal Campaign activities
    • Negotiates with external vendors and manages the contracts to meet the needs of the IMG program
    • Maintain supply of program materials, manage mailing budget and vendor relations, build and review lists in coordination with database manager


    Ipas Cross-unit Working Groups

    • Fosters and contributes to a team approach within the unit and with other staff
    • Performs other duties as assigned


    • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years’ relevant experience
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with donor databases and/or Microsoft CRM
    • Understanding of major gifts methods and systems
    • Ability to travel 10%



    • 3-5 years of fundraising, grant management, project and program management, and writing and editing experience
    • Experience working in a non-profit organization
    • Spanish or French language skills
    • Advanced degree
    • Direct mail and basic marketing knowledge
