  • Overview

    In collaboration with and guidance from the Senior Health Systems Advisor, the Health Systems Associate provides technical support in the area of health systems strengthening, community development and stigma reduction, comprehensive abortion care and contraception, monitoring and quality improvement, and provider and site support.


    • Supports planning, organizing, and facilitates the development of trainings and workshops on high-quality comprehensive abortion care services
    • Coordinates site selection, baseline assessments, and pre-training workshop plans for selected in-country sites
    • In collaboration with the Senior HS Advisor and external consultants develop a process to mentor, support, monitor and follow up with the implementation of comprehensive abortion care services in selected sites and with trained providers.
    • Participates in or conducts quarterly on-site support visits to assess and provide support in the area of clinical compliance and service delivery and supports continuous quality improvement.
    • Familiarize with Terra (Ipas global monitoring and evaluation database) and conducts regular data reviews to monitor and analyze performance and identify areas for strengthening at the provider and site level
    • Provides technical assistance as requested in the research, development of regulations, approval and implementation of regulations, protocols, and guidelines related to the implementation of the comprehensive abortion care model
    • Prepare reports on training events and other program activities to document project progress
    • Is familiar with latest clinical guidance, as outlined in the Ipas Clinical Updates in Reproductive Health, and participates in dissemination of new guidance, updates and learning opportunities with Ipas North Carolina.
    • Knowledgeable of and supports and monitors the implementation of standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with the Quality of Care minimum standards
    • Track activities and expenses against country, program, or project budget
    • Represent Ipas at local, regional, or national meetings as requested by unit staff
    • Perform other duties as assigned


    Internal & External Customers / Suppliers as well as Third Parties

    • Reports to Senior Health Systems Advisor in reference to workflow, deadlines, reports, and projects
    • Maintains relationships with provincial service facilities and other non-profit organisations and relevant government departments
    • Support relationship with technical consultants as needed
    • Works with associates, managers, directors, and other units in reference to reports, planning, policies, and procedures
    • Actively engages with relevant units in North Carolina as needed for technical support and support in the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and Policies


    Minimum Requirements for Position:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Systems or related field
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with the public health sector in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights
    • Facilitation and training skills
    • Able to represent Ipas among different stakeholders in a respectful and professional manner
    • Comfortable with analysing and using data to inform program, provider and site support
    • Supportive supervision/facilitation skills
    • Project Management skills
    • Report writing Skills


    Preferred Requirements:

    • Experience conducting training and assessments
    • Experience working in a clinical environment
    • Experience working in a non-profit organization
    • 2 or more years of program management experience
